How to get to Halong Bay
This is the route for cars from Hanoi to Halong Bay, taking the newly operated Controlled-access highway Halong- Hai Phong.

Thank to the Controlled-access highway Halong – Hai Phong officially being in used since September 2018, the ride from Hanoi to Halong now takes less 2 hours than before.
If you start from Hanoi, you need to go to Thanh Tri Bridge to take the Highway 5B (Hanoi – Hai Phong).
Restricted access to car, bus and long vehicle, prohibited to motorbikes, pedestrians, animals, pedal cycles, mopeds, agricultural vehicles. The minimum speed is not lower than 60 km/h and the maximum speed is not higher than 120 km/h.
At the exit of Highway 5B, go up the Bach Dang bridge. The bridge will connect you to the Highway Halong-Hai Phong.
At the end of the bridge, you will continue to take the Halong – Hai Phong highway to go to Tuan Chau Port.
Go along the highway Halong – Hai Phong until you get to the Minh Khai intersection. Turn right into Dai Yen Street. Go along Dai Yen Street until the intersection with Tuan Chau Street.
Turn right to Tuan Chau Street to get to Tuan Chau port. This is where you board cruise ships to explore Halong Bay.
